First, we need to determine the difference between soft wax and hard wax. At first, it should be noted that the difference in quality from one brand of wax to the next can be huge. Inexpensive waxes typically use lesser raw materials, resulting in a finished product with lower performance and safety properties.

Both soft and hard removal waxes are designed to melt and apply to the skin. The main difference is how the product can "heal" or "dry out" the skin and get rid of it. The soft wax heals slowly and remains sticky. After application, it must be removed with a wax mask (a piece of cloth made for this purpose). Hard wax, often called striped wax, hardens so tightly that it can be removed without tape.

Hard or striped wax is usually gentler than soft wax and is often the aesthetic choice of wax masks with sensitive areas such as lips, underpants, and underarms. In general, soft wax binds and pulls hair more tightly than hard wax. However, depending on how the wax is formulated and what by-products are included, there is a significant difference from one soft wax to the next.
